Flash fiction - Flash fiction, also called sudden fiction, micro fiction, postcard fiction or short-short fiction, is a sub-genre of the short story characterized by limited word length. There is no "official" or exact word limit, but flash fiction stories are generally less than 2,000 words long, and tend to cluster in the 250 to 1,000 word range.

Golden Age of Science Fiction - The Golden Age of Science Fiction, often recognized as a period from the early 1940s through the 1950s, was an era during which the science fiction genre gained wide public attention and many classic science fiction stories were published. The saying "The golden age of science fiction is twelve", from the science fiction fan Peter Graham [Hartwell 1996], means that many readers use "golden age" to mean the time when they first developed a passion for science fiction, often in adolescence.

Crime fiction - Crime fiction is the genre of fiction that deals with crimes, their detection, criminals, and their motives. It is usually distinguished from mainstream fiction and other genres such as science fiction or historical fiction, but boundaries can be, and indeed are, blurred.

LDS fiction - LDS fiction (or Mormon fiction) is a growing niche market of fiction novels featuring themes related to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the LDS Church, see also "Mormon"). Much of the recent rise in the number of titles and the improvement in the quality of LDS fiction is often attributed to Gerald Lund's popular LDS historical fiction series the Work and the Glory.

The Span of Mainstream and Science Fiction: A Critical Study of a New Literary Genre by Peter Brigg,

The Span of Mainstream and Science Fiction: A Critical Study of a New Literary Genre by Peter Brigg,
From the 1960s (when the advent of what many call the postmodern style made establishing genres more difficult) to the present day, writers have been incorporating science--not only the commonly thought of science Fiction and technology but also the "soft" sciences such as psychology Fiction and sociology--into what was previously considered mainstream fiction. This book examines works by Thomas Pynchon, Doris Lessing, Fiction and others who incorporate science in fiction Fiction and exemplify the movement of mainstream fiction writers toward a new genre termed "span." It also examines works by some science fiction writers who are edging closer to the border of science fiction Fiction and slowly over into span. This book maps the boundaries of the new span genre of fiction Fiction and thus helps define texts that fall outside the realms of mainstream Fiction and science fiction. Diagrams are included Fiction and a bibliography Fiction and index.
